The Department of Biomedical Sciences fosters key professionals in the future bio technology industry. In the future, the edical technology field will take on the tendency of the bio industry to develop and apply new diagnostic methods and treatments from the knowledge of basic life sciences. To meet the needs of the times, the Department of Biomedical Sciences provides maximum support for graduate students to explore more diverse career paths through active convergence education with clinical medicine, biomedical engineering, and medical informatics while educating specialized knowledge in basic life sciences.

Educational
goals

The educational goal of the Department of Biomedical Sciences is to nurture professionals who can lead the growth of new ndustries that combine life sciences, medical engineering, basic and clinical sciences. To this end, the specific goals are to cultivate convergence-type talents with the ability to learn and research on their own through the operation of the convergence basic curriculum and the in-depth curriculum, nurture field-type talents through industry linkage, and foster international talents through thorough English communication skills development.

Major field

Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine

Stem cells are cells with a variety of differentiating and proliferative capacities and are being used as mportant resources for basic embryology and cell biology research, such as developmental and cell differentiation mechanisms. This sub-major aims to develop technologies that can be applied to clinical and industrial applications such as diagnosis and treatment by identifying the mechanisms of development and differentiation through basic cell and molecular biology research using stem cells.

Cell Signaling Network

Understanding and studying intracellular signaling is the most fundamental and important thing in research to discover new drugs and new drug candidates. The signaling mechanisms of cells are very complex and exist in many nexplained regulatory systems. Networking of cell signaling in higher organisms is a major topic in modern edicine, pharmacological research, and life sciences. In addition, understanding the signal transduction of interactions between biomolecules is an essential academic field for new drug development research as biomimicry research that gives specificity to translational (transition) research.

Systems Immunology

Conducting academic activities to reveal each niche at the individual level by comprehensively analyzing the unctions and interactions of various molecules and cells constituting the immune system. Based on this, we develop the ability to understand the principles of immune phenomena such as infection immunity, autoimmunity, transplant immunity, and allergy, and apply them to understanding the principle of maintaining immune homeostasis in the human body.
